The older your child gets and the higher up in grades they can be expected to have more to carry in the way of books, notepads, accessories and writing implements.  You may be surprised at how heavy an elementary school kid’s backpack can get.  These means you might need a backpack that is more functional, larger and with more pockets to hold everything.  While the backpacks for this age may not be as cute, there are still plenty that are popular and fashionable.

Kid’s school backpacks for high school and middle school kids can be medium to large.  They are usually more durable than the ones for little kids.  These school backpacks usually have multiple pockets for everything from glasses to calculators to cell phones, as well as pockets for notebooks and pencils either inside the bag or outside.  Most also have pockets to hold water bottles, since it seems to be fashionable to carry a water bottle nowadays.

Kid’s backpacks for school may be made out of synthetic leather, nylon, canvas or denim.  Nylon seems to be the most popular style.  For schools that require it, the student or parent may purchase a see-thru backpack, made of plastic type material.  You will want to get a bag that is waterproofed if you can, as it is not uncommon for students to be caught in the rain.

Since school backpacks do get heavy make sure you purchase a durable one that has padded shoulder straps and secure zippers.  Students will tend to throw their backpacks around pretty roughly as well, so you do need a good on.
