If your kid is in need of a bag to carry books to school or something to use for luggage on short trips, play dates or sleepovers, then they will enjoy having a cool backpack.  Backpacks are one of the handiest accessories ever invented and very rarely do you see a kid who doesn’t have one.

Most kids prefer to have a backpack that they find to be cool.  Isn’t it funny how we use the word “cool” to mean something that is popular or catches the eye or imagination?  Kids especially like to do or have things that are cool, and a backpack is no exception.

Of course what makes a cool kids backpack is going to be in the eye of the beholder.  Different kids will think different backpacks are cooler than others.  Some kids will want an unusual shaped one, others will be more attracted to colors and yet others will want one that has a lot of unordinary pockets.  There are even a few kids who will think the coolest backpacks are the ones that are personalized with homemade art.  When my kids were toddlers it was cool to hang different character key chains from the zippers.  Talk to your kid and find out what they think is cool.

There is a varied choice of backpack styles available for buying online.  You are going to find more options online than anywhere else, and you can shop at your leisure, save gas and avoid crowds.   Popular styles of backpacks for younger kids might be High School Musical themes or Rock and Roll themes.  Many young kids favor certain animals and they will certainly find any backpack with those animals to be cool.  Girls sometimes love feminine bags that have a Bratz, dancer or Disney princess theme.  Boys may favor a sports team colors, or manly style camouflage bag with lots of zippers.

Some of the coolest young kid’s backpacks we have seen are shaped like an animal itself, maybe a cat’s head or horse’s head.  There are some very cool see-thru bags, for those that like them or are required by their school to have one.  If your kid is a jock there are cool backpacks for girls and boys in that genre also.

Many kids like to carry mp3 players, DVD players, small laptops and cell phones, so you may want to find a backpack with specific pockets for some or all of those devices.  I’m sure they would find that very cool.  Make sure the backpack is the right size for your child and not overly large.  Ensure it has padded shoulder straps, and is easy to keep clean.
