Buying Kids Luggage

Buying kids luggage is a lot like buying kids backpacks.  First you might want to determine what you need or what you want and then begin your search.  But you can simply browse around until something catches your eye.  Kid’s luggage can be purchased online or at your local stores such as Wal-Mart or Target.  Online you will get the greatest selection and variety of luggage.

Kid’s luggage is usually going to be smaller, lighter and more whimsical than adult luggage of course, because it is meant to look cute or to be easy for kids to lug around.  You can get young people’s luggage in lady bug, horse, turtle, tiger, princess, Disney and plane themes as well as many others.  There is a huge variety of luggage out there.

Luggage shops themselves usually don’t carry a large variety of kid’s size luggage.  A kid carrying or wheeling his or her own luggage will not only help you but it will teach the child some responsibility.  So you do want them to have their own luggage once you feel they are old enough.  Online shopping offers the best choices.  You can get kids luggage that is monogrammed with your child’s name or personalized in other ways.  This always helps in keeping the luggage from being lost and in giving your kid some pride in his or her items.

A kid’s backpack can be considered luggage itself, as many times if the trip you or your kid is going on is not long, a backpack will be big enough for all they need.  If this is the case it is always a good idea to get them a backpack with wheels since this will ease the strain on their little shoulders, neck and back.  Simply purchase a functional backpack that contains all the anticipated pockets you will need.  Usually for travel not many pockets are needed since the majority of stuff packed will be clothing, toiletries and some toys, books or mp3 players.  School backpacks usually require more pockets, although you can obviously use a school backpack as kid’s luggage if need be, or you simply don’t need to purchase another piece of luggage.

Some kid’s luggage resembles a small duffle bag, which you can usually get with the wheels and a pull out handle.  This is a really cool idea for a boy.  For real young kids there is luggage that is made out of plastic and the child can ride on the luggage almost like a toy.  Those are called Trunki Ride Alongs.  Something like that should help with any travel boredom at the airport. Some kids luggage comes partnered with a bigger piece for checking on airplanes and a smaller matching piece for carrying on.

When looking for kids luggage make sure it seems sturdy enough for what it will be carrying and light enough for your child to work with.  You are going to want wheels on it just like your own adult luggage, and of course the pull out handle.  Yes, a kid could simply use a small piece of adult luggage as their own, but buying a whimsical piece of kids luggage is a neat way to get your child enthused about any trips and make any kind of travel much more fun, let alone relieving you from having to carry more.  They also make great kids gifts!
